This song reminds me of how close we are to the Savior's second coming, and how our great responsibility to share the gospel. "All men must before him bow" and every tongue will confess that Jesus is the Christ.

When I Am Baptized

While at college one of our classmates was introduced to the gospel and accepted it's teaching. The changes in her life were miraculous to see. She transformed an unhappy lifestyle of drinking and thrill seeking to a happy Christ-centered life, so much so that she didn’t even resemble her passport picture taken months earlier. This song accompanies the ordinance of baptism so well and a more full arrangement for someone baptized after the age of eight seemed appropriate.

I arranged "My Reedemer Lives" in 2008 shortly after the passing of the prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. This is a beautiful hymn of faith in Christ which isn't sung nearly enough. The arrangement is dedicated to the lyricist, who will always be "my prophet" and who called me on a mission.
